Lynette Ashley Key

Mrs. Lynette Ashley Key went to be with Jesus on August 9, 2011 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late James Bryan “J.B.” Key. Dear mother of Carol (Don) Coode of Antioch, TN. Dear Grandmother “Darty” of Andrea Forrest (Edward) Glosemeyer of St. Louis, MO. Great Grandmother to Ryan, Eric, and Anthony Glosemeyer. Dear Daughter of the late Guy and Frances Vantrease Ashley. Sister to Evelyn Keller of Nashville, TN., and the late Mary Jo Gazie of Lompoc, CA., and a wonderful caretaker, Cynthia Dismukes of Nashville, TN.Lynette was born in Chattanooga, TN. She graduated from Smith County High School in 1937. She and her husband were married on April 27, 1945. She belonged to the First Baptist Church of Carthage, TN. During her many years of employment, she worked on the WW2 Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, TN. During the time her husband was the Smith County Trustee, she worked as their bookkeeper. She was also employed at the Walton Hotel for several years. Lynette worked with the Meals on Wheels Program in Smith County and after her retirement, she generously gave her time as a caretaker for the elderly.Despite the prognosis from her physicians, Lynette continued to live a very full life for many many years, before succumbing to Kidney Failure due to complications from pneumonia. Lynette loved her family very much. They always came first and she would do anything for them. She was never at a loss for words when it came to her family and she always wanted to know how others were doing. Her wisdom and understanding of the nature of life strengthened all those whom she knew and loved. She will always be remembered for her beautiful face, her precious laugh, and that she was truly a fighter of life. But, mostly we will miss her spirit to love others. Let her life be an inspiration to us all. Lynette will always be remembered as a woman of Christ, always serving others first. Her memory will continue to live through those who knew her best. Lynette will never die in the hearts of those of us she left behind. May she rejoin her late husband, J.B. where they will now dance their eternal days together in heaven. “If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane I’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. Funeral Services for Mrs. Key are scheduled to be conducted 1PM Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes. Marc Reeves will officiate and Interment will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.Visitation with the Key family will be at the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Friday from 11AM until service time at 1PM.
