Paul Gibbs

Mr. Paul Gibbs, Age 68 of Mt. Juliet, TN., beloved Husband, Father and PawPaw passed away to his Heavenly Home on Monday, April 19, 2010 at his residence after an extended illness. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in many ways throughout his life. Mr. Gibbs was born August 29, 1941 in Old Hickory, TN., the son of the late Hattie Mai Williams and Robert Bertrum Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his Siblings: Bobby Gibbs, Kenneth Gibbs and Doris Davis and Mother-in-Law, Edith Smith. He was a 1960 graduate of Gordonsville High School and resided in Mount Juliet and Granville. He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was married on May 27, 1967 to Shirley Lorene Smith. He was a former employee of Service America and Five Star Food Service. He served many happy years as a member, deacon and choir member of Gladeville Baptist Church. Mr. Gibbs is survived by his wife of 43 years , Shirley Smith Gibbs of Mt. Juliet, TN. Sons: Dan (Cheryl) Gibbs of Greeneville, TN and Rick (Beckie) Gibbs of Knoxville, TN. Daughter, Paula Gibbs of Lebanon, TN. Five Grandchildren: Aaron and Will Gibbs, Raven and Arabella Gibbs and Jessica Bailey. Six Siblings: Donald Gibbs, Gerald Gibbs, Betty Jean Smith, Patricia Pulley, Linda Biggs and June Thrope. Longtime friends and caregivers: James Wills, Donnie Lawrence and Edwin Brown, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Gibbs will be held at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Union Hill Cemetery, Sykes, TN.The Gibbs family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.Pallbearers will be: James Wills, Donnie Lawrence, Edwin Brown, L. W. Smith, Bobby Davis and Jerry Agee. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fidellis Sunday School Class of Gladeville Baptist Church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gladeville Baptist Church homebound missions fund.
