B. D. Wooten

May 2, 1918 - November 10, 2007

Mr. Bernice Dalton “B. D.” Wooten, Age 89 of the Bluff Creek Community of Smith County, died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Riverview Regional Medical Center, Carthage, TN. Mr. Wooten was born May 2, 1918, the son of the late Mae Lynch and Elmer Dale Wooten. Two Brothers preceded him in death, Jack Donald Wooten and Dale Wayne Wooten. Mr. Wooten was a 1936 graduate of Gordonsville High School. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army from 1941 to 1946. He worked with the Smith County Soil Conservation Service for 30 years and served on the Smith County Tax equalization board for several years. He was married to Ruby Eleanor Stallings on October 6, 1944. He was a farmer and was a member of the Carthage Church of Christ. Mr. B. D. Is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruby Stallings Wooten of Gordonsville, TN. Sisters: Etheleen Gass of Gordonsville and Ruth ( C. E.) Hackett of Elmwood, TN. Sisters-in-Law, Inez Stallings of Bluff Creek and Pat Wooten of Carthage, TN. Seven Nephews and One Niece. Funeral Services for Mr. Wooten will be held at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Monday, November 12, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. conducted by Eldward L. Anderson. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Gordonsville Cemetery.The Wooten family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M.Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ Mission Fund or Library Fund.
