Frank "Snowball" Hogan

October 22, 1951 - September 3, 2017

Mr. Earl Frank Hogan, also known as “Frankie” and “Snowball”, age 65, of Portland, TN, and a native of Smith County, TN, was born October 22, 1951 in Davidson County, TN, to Veleda Clay Hogan and the late Douglas Hogan. As darkness gave way to the sunset, Frank departed this life September 3, 2017 in Sumner County, TN. Frank was a friendly and outgoing person, a little bashful at times, but he never met a stranger and could have a conversation with anyone. He was also a great sports fan and enjoyed all football games, no matter the channel. He attended Smith County Schools then moved to Knoxville, TN, and graduated from Fulton High School in June of 1970. While in Knoxville, Frank attended church and was saved and baptized at an early age. He served his county in the U.S. Army. Then he began driving a truck (eighteen wheeler) for many years until retirement. Frank worked out of Portland in Sumner County and in Nashville driving a truck until this past August when he became ill. He leaves to cherish his memory a Daughter; Lisa (Mack) Freeman of Lebanon, TN. Grandchildren; Latashia Workings, Lakeshia Johnson, Marcus Scott, Chase Freeman, and Lazahion Kern. A very loving and caring Mother; Veleda Hogan Smith of Carthage, TN. Sister; Cynthia Woodmore of Carthage, TN, Brothers; Richard (Valerie) Hogan of Delaware, and Paul Jackson of Cookeville, TN. Niece; Sherita (Keith) Williams, II, Nephew; Richard Lamar (Stephanie) Hogan. Great-niece; Kimoria Williams. Three Great-nephews; Keith Williams, III, Kristopher Williams, and Aiden Hogan. Aunt; Lena Mai Sadler of Stonewall, TN. Uncle; Charlie King (Mary) Wester of Cookeville, TN. Three devoted cousins; Curtis E. Sadler, Thomas R. Sadler, Hugh E. (Clara) Sadler all of Stonewall, TN. Close Friend; Loretta Hogan of Stonewall, TN. Special Friends; Mattie and Larry Holland. A host of many friends, cousins, relatives, Ballard Chapel United Methodist Church Family and Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church Family. Funeral Services for Mr. Hogan are scheduled to be conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 1PM with Rev. Jerry Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the Ballard’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Saturday from 11AM until service time at 1PM. BASS FUNERAL HOME, GORDONSVILLE CHAPEL, DIRECTORS.
