Dorothy Burnett

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Gray Burnett, Age 81 of Alexandria, TN., a faithful and loving wife for 62 and mother of three children, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Lebanon Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lebanon, TN. Mrs. Burnett was born December 19, 1928in Macon, Georgia the daughter of the late Thelma Chiles and Charles Leroy Gray. Six Brothers and Sisters preceded her in death: Charles Gray, Tabitha Milam, Helen Ripley, Lila Mae Hitton, Bobby Gray and Thelma Gray. A Great Granddaughter also preceded her in death, McKinsey Grace Cannon. She was married on June 11, 1948 to Walter Lee Burnett and they lived in Georgia until 1980 when they moved to Alexandria, TN. She was a beautician and later was a dental technician.While in Georgia she was a member of Atlanta First Church of the Nazarene and after moving to Alexandria she was a member of First Baptist Church, Alexandria, TN. Mrs. Burnett is survived by her husband of 62 years Walter Burnett of Alexandria, TN. Son and Daughter-in-Law, Danny and Rebecca Burnett of Dowelltown, TN. Two Daughters and Sons-in-Law: Louise and Lloyd Dyer of Alexandria, TN and Sharon and Sam Cooke of Pensacola, FL. Seven Grandchildren: Justin Burnett of Dowelltown, TN., Jeremy (Cindy) Burnett of Antioch, TN., Keith (Brenda) Cannon of Cookeville, TN., Tracy (Leslie) Cannon of Dowelltown, TN., Brandon Dyer of Alexandria, TN., Sunny Marie Hatchett of Gainesville, GA and Spencer Lee Hatchett of Dacula, GA. Two Step Grandchildren: Lisa (Todd) Hieatt of Cookeville, TN and Denise Dyer of Franklin, TN. Five Great Grandchildren: Madelene Lee Burnett, Peyton, Devin, Noah and Hunter Bryce Cannon. Brothers and Sisters-in-Law; Buddy and Marian Gray of Dadeville, Al and Ray and Ilene Gray of Powder Spring, GA. Sister and Brother-in-Law, Jean and Walter Rabon of Conyers, GA. Sister-in-Law, Dean Gray of Marietta, GA. Funeral Services for Mrs. Burnett will be held at the First Baptist Church, Alexandria, TN. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Curt Wagoner, officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Cemetery, Alexandria, TN.The Burnett family will receive friends at the Avant Funeral Home, Alexandria, TN. On Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday at First Baptist Church from 12:00 Noon until service time at 2:00 P.M.
