Jean Bain Hackett

Mrs. Jean Bain Hackett, age 74 of Hickman, TN, passed away Saturday February 10, 2024 at Smith County Health and Rehabilitation in Carthage, TN. Jean was born September 7, 1949 in Liberty TN to the late Mattie Bell Dodd Bain and Buddy Bain Jean graduated in 1967 from DeKalb County High School, she pursued nursing school at McFarland Hospital and graduated as an LPN. On October 28, 1967 she married the love of her life, Richard “Bear” Hackett, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Jean dedicated 15 years to homemaking and actively supported her husband in ministry for over 40 years. She worked at Wal Mart in Carthage TN for 35 years where she formed lasting connections within the community. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Bear” Hackett who passed away December 23, 2023. Her mother, Mattie Bell Dodd Bain and her father, Buddy Bain, both hailed from Alexandria, TN. She also lost her sisters, Anita Hayes of Mt. Juliet, TN and Frances Jordan of Lebanon, TN, as well as her brothers, Buddy Bain, Jr. and Don “Monk” Bain both of Alexandria, TN. Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer (David) Gravley of Hickman, TN ; three granddaughters: Bethany (Jarrell) Bates of Carthage, TN, Hannah (Richard) Moore of Liberty, TN , and Jessalyn Young of Hickman, TN.; step-granddaughter, Nichole Gravley of Carthage, TN; step-grandson, Kyle (Jenna) Gravley of Lebanon, TN; four great-grandchildren; Aleigha and MaKaylee Bates of Carthage, TN and Maverick and Clayton Moore of Liberty, TN; step-great-grandson, Conner Gravley of Lebanon, TN; sister-in-law, Jane Bain of Sykes, TN: brother-in-law: Jerry (Beverly) Hackett of Hickman, TN along with several nieces and nephews. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. Mrs. Hackett is at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes where funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 11 AM with Bishop Richard Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery. Jeans family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home on Tuesday February 13, 2024 from 4PM to 8PM and on Wednesday February 14, 2024 from 9AM until service time at 11AM.
